For centuries, people of India have known and utilized the health benefits of copper utensils by storing water in them and drinking it as copper infused water is especially known for its anti-bacterial property. Ayurveda is an integrative medical science which aims at treating the human body as a whole- physical, social, psychological and spiritual well-being.

Why use copper vessels for drinking water?

Also, it was important for the ancient yogis to drink copper infused water as it helps with balancing the three in the body i.e. vata. Kapha and pitta. Ancient yogis typically consumed tamra jal as the first thing in the morning to balance their body, mind and spirit.

Various recent medical studies are supporting this practice as they have successfully established that copper does carry sterilizing properties and thus can be used for purifying water by killing bacteria, viruses and fungi.

How water is transformed into a copper vessel?
