Tin-lined copper cookware is an amazing choice for cooking since food does not stick to its surface easily. The outer copper surface of the cookware conducts that heat excellently making the cooking process a lot easier. Tin is a soft metal and may get cracked or scratched easily when cleaned with harsh abrasives. Step 1: Making the cleansing solution

There are a lot of combinations that you can try when it comes to preparing a cleaning mixture. One of them is a paste made of vinegar and baking soda. Add a few tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl and start adding vinegar to it little by little until a thick paste is formed. Another combination that you can try is of vinegar, salt and flour. Make sure to mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Other mixtures that you can try out are lemon and salt. Combine one part of lemon juice with three parts of salt to make a uniform paste. For stubborn marks and stains, you can use ketchup or tomato juice.

Step 2: Applying the cleaning mixture

Always use a natural solution such as mentioned above to clean tin lined copper cookware. Do not use store bought cleaners unless they are proven to be safe or tin-lined cookware. Once the cleaning solution is prepared, comes the time to apply it. To apply the solution, use a soft cotton cloth or a sponge. Spread a thin film of the cleaner on the cookware to be cleaned. Leave the mixture to sit for 10-15 minutes depending on how stained the cookware is.

Step 3: Cleaning the cookware

Do not rub the surface of the metal with an abrasive scrubber as it may crack or scratch the delicate lining of tin. Always use a soft sponge or a cotton cloth to buff away the stains. Once all the stains have vanished, wash the copperware with plain water and wipe off the excess water with a clean soft cloth.

Step 4: Regular cleaning

With regular cleaning, you need not follow the above-mentioned steps each and every time. You can use regular soap and warm water to wash your tin-lined copperware regularly. When you think your copperware need some extra attention you can use one of the above-mentioned combinations.
